7 Home Design Trends To Say Good-Bye To

Just like the return of baggy jeans in fashion, interior design trends are always going in and out of style. Here is a list of 7 trends that decorators are predicting will fade away.

1) Shiplap is falling out of fashion. There are so many other emerging ways of bringing texture into a space, such as subtle, modern wallpaper or textured tiles, like the picture above.

2) Gray kitchen interiors may become less popular. You may notice a surge of bolder kitchen cabinets, like blue and green hitting your Instagram. Natural wood is also making a comeback.

3) All White interiors may start to date themselves. Designers are choosing bold colors and tones to create warmth.

4) The mid-century modern furniture trend may finally be over. I know this one may be hard for some of you. More and more people are steering away from spindly legs and walnut furniture, typical of the mid-century modern style.

5) Barn doors are being replaced by other types of statement entryways like pocket doors or french doors.

6) Solid color accent walls aren’t as popular this year. More and more interiors are searching for a seamless transition of the style instead of having one wall screaming for attention. Or if there is an accent wall, it is a subtle texture difference.

7) Matching furniture sets may start to look dated. Many designers see matching sets as an interior design flaw. It does not allow for any personal style to show through. They recommend purchasing nonmatching pieces that coordinate with one another.

What do you think? What trends are you ditching?
