Fun FREE activities to do in the Twin Cities

Spring is here! It’s time to shake of our winter coats and enjoy our city.

We’ve compiled a shortlist of activities that will cost you nothing. That’s right, our favorite price - free-fifty-free. What’s your favorite free activity in the twin cities? Did we miss it on our list?

1) Go Disc Golfing - combine golf with Frisbee & you get Disc Golfing. Players throw discs at a series of “holes”, with the lowest number of “strokes” winning the game. MN has around 200 disc golf courses & most are free to play. To find a course: https://www.pdga.com/


2) See the swans at the Swan Park - Every winter, over 2,000 trumpeter swans gather along the Mississippi River in Monticello. Late November to March is usually the best time to see them before they head off to the many lakes once the water begins to thaw.

3) Tour the Grand Rounds scenic byway - As the only urban national scenic byway, the Minneapolis’ Grand Rounds showcases the best qualities of our city. See many gorgeous views of the downtown skyline along with the lush green shorelines of the city’s Chain of Lakes. 4) Visit the first Basilica in the United States - Basilica of St Mary Tours are free. The historic site has been a cornerstone of the Catholic faith in MPLS since 1914. 5) Enjoy the art! Most locals know that you can visit the Minneapolis Institute of Art for free, as well as take a walk through the Sculpture Garden at the Walker Art Center. But don’t forget that the Walker Art Center is free to enter on the first Saturday of every month. Reservations are required. https://walkerart.org/free-first-saturdays
