2023 Home Decor Trends
The beginning of the year is always a fun time to examine the home trends that you will be seeing in some form or another. The clean lines and push to minimalistic style is slowly being replaced with more bold, colorful and warm interiors filled with special details like crown molding, fringe, and romantic silhouettes. Maximalists rejoice!
These colorful and warm interiors speak to our collective desire for comfort and security in the wake of the pandemic (yes, we’re still feeling its effects). As a result, moody color palettes, printed wallpaper, cozy textures, and natural materials, with a modern-traditional design are slowly making a steady comeback and becoming the hot home decor trends for 2023.
MOODY, SATURATED PALETTES
Moody color palettes in all its forms are taking center-stage once again. While timeless white walls will never completely go out of style ( always a favorite for most Buyers when looking for a home), people are seeking more comfort and coziness at home in the form of painted nooks, moody wallpaper, warm wood tones, and rich, colorful upholstery.
MODERN TRADITIONAL DESIGN
After countless years of clean, pared-back minimalism, we’re finally seeing the pendulum swing in the opposite direction. An updated version to traditional design is making a slow comeback in the form of ornate woodwork and molding, soft silhouettes, saturated colors, and pattern play. Today’s version of traditional design has a bit of an edge— like a chic, updated take on your grandmother’s sitting room.
PATTERN PLAY
Complimenting that modern traditional home design trend for 2023, patterned upholstered furniture and print mixing is slowly gaining popularity. While a patterned statement sofa used to be regarded as a bold, maximalist move, we’re seeing a slow uptick in intentional, classic upholstery like stripes, florals, and neutral animal print. You will also find a lot of variations of floral and botanical prints (spinning off of the trend of bringing nature into the home). Expect to see soft, traditional floral prints and accents, particularly in rugs and throw pillows.
MUDDY EARTH TONES
Expect to see a lot more dark wood and muddy colors, including brown. From wood wall paneling to earth tones like brown, burgundy, olive, and ochre. This new color palette adds some much-needed softness to all of the greys and greiges we have all been living in. Tis home decor trend brings warmth into the mix.
It goes without saying that a Seller must be cautious when utilizing home decor trends while preparing their home for sale. Home trends are not for everybody, and a Seller should try to keep their home as appealing to as many Buyers as possible, while still making the home feel current and up to date.
Which home trends are you looking forward to?
